Sick of your office always being a mess?
When the office isn't tidy, it can have a dramatic effect on your working capability. Do you ever arrive at work on a Monday morning, take one look at the office, and almost feel a little unmotivated? It can be hard to focus when there is stuff everywhere, and to visitors it won't look that good if there are empty packets of crisps lying around and files stacked up high on desks. Which is why we at Office Monster think implementing a clean desk policy is a fantastic idea. Here's why:
1. It Reduces Stress
First and foremost, it will reduce stress and we could all do with a little less stress in our lives. If you work in a busy office, any added stress or mess will definitely not help. It's important to have a clear mind when dealing with lots of little (but important) jobs all day. As you'll know, you can't really afford to make mistakes, and having a pristine desk will decrease the chances of this happening.
2. Purchase some Lockable storage boxes
You can’t instigate a clean desk policy if you have no where for your employees to put their documents and personal belongings. Which is where Office Monster can help. Purchasing some small and lockable storage boxes for your employees, should encourage them to put any personal belongings in there and out of the way. Not only will this make the desks within the office look tidier, it will also help to put a stop to theft, and help to keep everything private and confidential.
3. It'll be good for your Health
Again, another benefit of having a clean desk policy is that it will help you to stay clean and healthy. When everything is clean, less germs will spread and this should hopefully result in less illnesses and bugs within the office. Fun fact: Research has found that the average desktop has 400 times more bacteria than the average toilet seat! No wonder bugs and viruses spread so easily, which is why it's essential to stay clean and tidy!
4. Post-it notes
Post-it notes are usually the worst culprit. Don't get me wrong, Post-it notes are great, that goes without saying, however there is only so many Post-it notes that can pile up on your desk before it gets completely out of hand, and before you know it you're almost suffocating in a multicolored, Post-it note storm. Which is where the clean desk policy comes into play. So, how about instead of just letting them pile up, why not make it a rule that as soon as you get a post-it note passed your way just jot the note down in your notebook? Problem solved.
